Chief Bender, who started to play baseball in the Quaker city in l'JOO, was seen on the diamond with the Carlisle Indians, and then went to thebig leagues.Another speaker was “Jimmy” Wilson, a Philadelphia hoy. who is now the property of the St. Louis Cardinals, and who two years ago played in the World Series with the “Cards Wilson, it is rumored, may be sold to Boston soon. “Mike” Wilson, of Abing ton, formerly with the Pittsburgh Pi-! rates, was also on the speakers’ program.
