Crawfords, Brown, Summers, Crowley,Newsome Win Punt, Pass, KickEach year, children from all over the UJS.A. gather at various places and take part in what is possibly the greatest ,,Kid,, event since the Soap Box Derby,The participants are divided into age groups, ranging from 8 to 13, and compete among themselves for various a-wards. Each boy, so far in Madison there have been no girl competetors, passes, punts and kicks a football and is judged by local officials. Prizes are given in each age group, for first place, second, and third. All of the first place winners are eligible to continue to the District meet. The winners of that event go on to the Area meet, the NFC division meet, the AFC division meet, and finally, if they have made it through all of the previous meets, qualify tocompete in the National Final A.F.C. - NJ'.C. Pro Bowl-game.The annua] Punt, Pass and Kick competition is sponsored by Ford Dealers of America and the National Football league. For the past six years, according to Howard Thompson, Youngblood f*ord Company, has sponsored the event here in Morgan County. Mr. Thompson stated that the local Jaycees work with Youngblood Ford Company in officiating and organizing the Pass, Punt and Kick competition ui Madison.According to Thompson, there were forty boys involved in this year's competition. The first , second and third place winners for this year were8 Year Olds. 1. David Crawford, 2. Jay Hagin and 3.James Nunn.9 Year Olds: 1. Jeff Brown; 2. Jimmy Crowley, and 3.Keith Ellis.10 Year Olds: 1. Andy Summers, 2. Todd Powers, 3. Dave Clark.11 Year Olds. 1. Robby Crawford, 2. Todd Dixon; and 3. Hunter Reid.12 Year Olds 1. Allen Crowley, 2. Paul Summers, and 3. Bill Ashburn.13. Year Olds 1. Clarke Newsome; 2. Jay Brock, and 3. Mark Summers.David Crawford also came in first at Warner Robins Saturday in the 8 year old age group.He will go to Atlanta for District Saturday.Also winning certificates in the Zone competition Saturday in Warner Robms was Allen Crowley came In second in the12 year old group, and Clarke Newsome finished third In the13 year old group.
