Thursday, October 12, 1972 Jnhrprttfont-fltmnial. 23Lucchesi Park Tops Improvements ListThe development of Lucchesi Park earned top priority on the list of park improvements at the Petaluma Recreation, Music and Parks Commission meeting last night.Recreation Director James R. Raymond said the commission set a priority list of six projects and unanimously-agreed Lucchesi Park on Maria Drive should receive first attention.Improvements at Lucchesi initially would include additional baseball diamonds, turf and play and picnic equipment followed in later stages with a lake and senior citizens center.Placed second on the list wasreplacement of the LittleLeague diamond at Kenilworth Park. The facility must be moved to accommodate the widening of East Washington Street.Third on the priority list was developing phase two of Shol-lenberger River Park to include athletic facilties and a night lighted baseball field.Other projects on the list included expansion of the swim center to include game areastfand picnic facilities; expansion and upgrading of existing parks; and last, development of a new neighborhood park m thearea of Grant School.Raymond said the list would go to the city council in hopesof getting a five-year capital outlay plan approved to fund the projects.Lights ApprovedThe Mariner Cove Improvement Association board last night approved replacement of damaged floodlights at the entrances of Prince Royal Passage and Paradise Drive and a new entrance sign for the tot lot.
