StNicholas VictorsAgainSt. Nicholas Red Wings remains undefeated after their 3rd game in the South Suburban Green CYO League and despite another injury during practice. Larry Zordan broke a shoulder bone and is hospitalized at Rosaland Community Hospital in Room317.The Red Wings elected to receive and fumbled the first kickoff reception at their 40 yard line. Dan Horvath (Orville) intercepted the next Ascension pass, on his own 25 yard line. Ed Sealy carried the ball for a 6 yard gain.With the ball on the Red Wing 33 yard-line an illegal defensive move gave St. Nick their first down. QB Don Bonet handed a short pass to Ray Miller for an 8 yard gain.The next few plays the RedWings lost some yardage andwere forced to kick the ball. The kick was beautifully blocked by Ascension’s defense.Bill Griffin and Ed Sealy made some fine tackles for the Red Wings and brought their offensive unit back at their own 38 yard-line. Ed Sealy (Cuddy) gained another four yards before the end of the first quarter.Going into the second quarter Ascension stopped the Red Wings offense with a pass interception at their 48 yard-line. Ray Miller returned the favor for the Red Wings andcaught their pass at his 38 yard-line.Two plays later it was Ed Sealy who ran for a 52 yard touchdown. Dan King halted the Red Wings conversion jinx for a moment by scoring the extra point.Ascension of Harvey was driven deep into their own territory with some finetackles by Ed Sealy, Pete Sorcy and Rich Salazar. Tom Utermark took over as defensive center for the Red Wings and made it a great asset in the defensive lineup.Ed Sealy recovered on Ascension fumble a their 5 yard line. Dan King broughtthe ball a little closer to the goalline. Ed Sealy (Cuddy)scored on the next play for aRed Wing TD.The conversion point wasblocked. First half ended with a 13—0 lead in favor of the Red Wings.Ascension took the Red Wings kickoff at their 46 yard-line, with Pat Kilheeney making the tackle for the Red Wings. A few plays later Ascension finally had their first down of the game.Ray Miller deflected anAscension pass for furtherdamage.The Red Wings took command at midfield, and it was Ed Sealy (cuddy) who dashedfor a 46-yard touch down, his 3rd of the game and his 5th ofthe^season. That made thescore 19-0 Red Wings When WingsAscension took possession of the ball at the 38 yard-line, it was Dan Horvath that droveGary Schoulten of the Redthe ballcovering beautifully. Several plays later it was Tom Utermarkthem back another 5 yards. Ed Sealy and Kilheeney added 10 more yards.
