Joey Maxim Wins Nod Over Clarence JonesAKRON, O.—(INS)—Joey Max-im, classy Clevelander, was firmly entrenched today as a leading contender for the heavyweightboxing crown after whipping Clarence Jones* of Buffalo* last night at the Akron Armpry.Maxim* who stepped into the title picture by virtue of his startling win over Jersey Joe Walcott* gave the Buffalo slugger little chance to use his noted power. Joey floored Jones for a nine-count in the second round.
