Athens Beaten 12-0(By “Fuzzy” Fusch)Playing in a sea of mud and in a downpour of rain. the Red Raiders of Decatur High, beat a stubborn Athens team last Friday night 12 to 0. The game was played on a wet slippery field and there were plenty of fumbles to mar the game on account of the wet and slippery ball. The first half ended 0 to 0, with both teams playing heads up ball and only ir the last quarter did Decatur get to rolling.A pass, Boley to Speake. on Athens* 19 yard line netted Decatur their first touchdown, and again on Athens’ 25 yard line, after Athens had fumbled. Decatur recovered and Johns went to Athens’ 1 yard line. Weatherly plunged over end for the Raider’s second score. Both attempts for the extra point failed and the game ended 12 to 0.
