Shaking: Medina-Artis surges into lead latecontinued from page IBdotted with puddles of deep water, forcing runners to slow their pace and find new- ways to get around or fight off their competitors. That was exactly the kind of race first-year Fike coach and organizer, Patrick Yarborough wanted.“Dale Edmonds and I set up the course,” Yarborough said. “I liked that it did not cross the roads and it used more of the forest area. That’s a good place for runners to decide exactly what to do away from everyone looking at every move.“You look at this course and it’s much slower than you’d think. It’s fast at the start, but then you’ve got a long uphill run, but a very slow upward slope. Then it’s back down, then up and then fast at the end.”The two races were held at once as well this year.I. ...Hunt sophomore Marcus Medina-Artis crosses the finish line in 18 minutes, 22 seconds to win the boys race at the seventh annual Wilson County Cross-Country Championships Monday afternoon at Gillette Athletic Complex. But I had to with Jacob behind me. Before the race, I kind of doubted myself, but I wanted to see what I could do.
