You go out for the football team in college -- just hoping to Icam the ropes and survive -- but manage to wind up starting in only your third game as a true freshman.Then try to imagine returning to your hometown - Fayetteville, N.C. -- to start your second collegiate game in front of a critical audience that not only includes 2,000 Rams' fans, but also your high school friends and family on the other side of the fence.You arc the Winston-Salem Slate Rams' Concll Maynor, a graduate of E.E. Smith High School, who has been thrust into the limelight almost immediately upon his arrival at WSSU.Are you nervous? Any normal freshman would be, but Maynor has proved to be something special.Coach Bill Hayes explains.Basically you have four or five years to play college ball, said Hayes, who said he noticed Maynor's talents right away in practice.At the beginning, it’s a matter of adjusting from high school ball tosaidpoiseor junior.
