Happy birthday!It is Larry Maxie, who etched his name tn unmistakable fashion 20 years ago this past season when, as a sophomore at Chaffey High School, he was given a mopup call behind Prince HalReniff as the Tigers faced Fontana in a Citrus Belt League game at John Galvin Park. Maxie fanned the three outs he was asked to get and went on during his junior and senior seasons for Coach Ken Proctor to be the No. 1 pitcher on a team that won the second and third of three consecutive CIF (now 4A championships. Happy birthday. Larry, on your 38th Sunday.It is Clyde Francisco, who virtually came with the franchise at Chaffey High School, noting that Corona is most anxious to become a member of the Citrus Belt League during the 1977-78 school year, but Palm Springs is frowning on the idea. The Citrus Belt area (as opposed to league) will meet again Oct. 19th in hopes of finalizing their recommendation to the CIF Beleaguing Committee. Imbalance in school enrollment, plus long travel time, is the reasoning voiced by Palm Springs for its opposition to joining a CBL of the six current schools. Dlus Corona.
