BLUE DEVILS VS. HORNED FROOSThe game of the week, Lion* Club Blue Devil* vs. Richard* son Savings and Loan’s Horned Frogs, may very well be the game at the season.Blue Devils, paced by half*back Tommy Rutherford, chalked up an impressive, 25-6 victory over the Horned Frogs.Rutherford, behind sharp line blocking, raced for three touchdowns on runs of 19, 33, and 51 yards. The Blue Devils’ fourth tally came on a 1-yard plunge by Jack Conkle.Tackles John Janslng and Jack Aultck, end Lundy Gunn and linebacker Larry Alford headed Blue Devils’ rock ribbed defense that iteld the Frogs scoreless until late In the final period.Grinding out 298 yards on the ground and adding 33 more as quarterback Bill Moore completed 3 of 3 passes, the Blue Devils scored in every period.Coach Lonnie Sutherland’s charges drove 66 yards In 12 plays In the first period with Conkle getting the TD; they went 97 yards In six plays in the second quarter, with Rutherford racing 51 yards for the counter; in the third, It was 60 yard In seven plavs with Rutherurd going 19 fo • six points. Early In the final period Rutherford ripped off a 33 yard run to wind up a 64-yard drive that took six plays.Hard-running Rutherford piled up 178 yards on 18 rushes to lead the Devils' runners.
