Ram, will open today with a continuous showing from 1 until 11 o’clock. •When fire, August 11, destroyed the old Opera House building owned by the city and in which Mr. Ram operated the Statetheatre, Mr. Ram doubled the force of workmen on his new theatre building then under construe- j g tinn nn m»ner Laurens Street andtcblt;mRriatlHtlliclpromised the people that hewould have dt ready for.the shoving of pictures in 45 days. Whatseemed an almost impossible task has been completed or will be by the time announced for the opening, 1 o’clock today.The building, built of brick and concrete, is up-to-date in every respect. Built along modernistic designs, the building contains be-ja sides the theatre several stores. c The ■fire-proof projection room is p equipped with new picture machines. The amplification system is one and one-half million times its original volume from the time ,it leaves the pick-up points to the transmission by the photocells inthe projection booth.A telephone system has been installed connecting various parts thn hnildincr so that messagesscgVIcan be flashed quickly and quietly to any or all of the service staff. The floor of the theatre is ofconcrete and the lighting is the new indirect system which is being used by all the bigger and bet-ter picture houses.
