There Ma'been;considerable Improvement In the offense, and . for the drat time this year the vanity ' has been able to acopo touchdown* agalnat the strong scrub team. On the defense tho tackling la not as hard or ' as sure as It must be before the strong teams are met. With the exception of Manning, who Is out of tho game because of sickness and a bnd elbow- the squad Is In very fair condition. There ore some minor Injuries, but none that will Interfere with the work of the team on Saturday. Manning's place In the back deld will be taken by Kearley, who has Improved very much this week and bide fair to do good work for a now man. Pitta Is back In the game at center, and keeps Improving every day. Hispassing, which was a little slow, Is very much Improved and his sggresslvo tackling and weight will help the defense materially. The team will start off with Pitts at center and Allen and Thigpen at guards. Title Is the heaviest center trio that Auburn has had In some time, averaging about *180 pounds.Captain Bonner will play one tackle while Lamb, a eubstltute of last year, will ploy the other. The veteran Cogdell will hold down one end. and a new man, either Robinson or Ressejac, will play the other. The back field will consist of Newell, Kearley, Davis and Major. All have had experience with the exception of Kearley. The new men and old are about properly balanced, and the combination as it will start against Mercer Is about as heavy a one os Auburn has had In aomu time. In fact It may be a little too heavy. If anything, for the new game.NNMM
