Triton game low but roughThe Triton college soccer team took to the road to meet Aurora college Sept. 25. The game was a low scoring contest, but very roughly played, if that’s any consolation. The final score was 2-2.Triton’s Chris Tegousis opened the scoring at 12:30 of the first half. Before the half was over, Aurora had tied the game.In the second half, Triton again look the lead at 11:35 on Tegousis' second goal, which came on a penalty kick. With Triton leading 2-1, the Trojans concentrated on defense, but Aurora tied the game with a little more than 15 minutes remaining.Trojan co-captain Jay Olriksen said, “I think we could have won the game, but they came out stronger than we did in the second half.Goalie and co-captain Al Seidel added, We were all offense in the first half and part of the second half. But when we got to the lead, we moved back and played too much defense.Triton outshot Aurora 14-13. A bench-emptying brawl took place with only a few seconds remaining. It was the most physical game Triton has been in this season.Coach Polacek summed up the fame: We played well but we played better in our 3-0 loss against Lewis. I’m still not satisfied. Our forward line lacks experience and we tend to rush too much. We’re missing too many opportunities to score. But the season is still young, and we hope to improve with more games.After a home game against Milwaukee Tech Oct. 1, Triton takes :o the road The Trojans will compete n the annual Wisconsin Invitational tournament at Platteville, Wise. Last year’s tourney saw Triton come lome with a second place trophy. 3ethany college, Minnesota, ranked seventh nationally, beat Triton for he championship, but Triton will neet Bethany in the opening round of his year’s tournament.
