J5cvttsdale-Ford City Little League players receive season awardsEach boy participatingwith one of the 17 teams in the Scottsdale-Furd City Little League teams received an award at the annual dinner Sept. 26 at Glendora House.Wally Cetera, manager of the second-place Cubs of the Minor division, was master of ceremonies.The league had a late start because of rainy weather and construction problems in establishing a new baseball field at 74th and Kostner.The final standings in the lour divisions were.Midget, first place, the Angels, Ed Sajewski, manager; second place, the Pirates, Leon Giowacki, manager; third place, the Cubs, Joe Balletto, manager; fourth place, the White Sox, Bob Hladik, manager.Minor, first place, the Yankees, Ken Szydlowsfci, manager; second place, the Cubs, Wally Cetera, manager; third place, the Astro s . Larry Upchurch,manager; fourth place, the White Sox, Jim Petropulos. manager.Major, first place, the Athletics. Izzy Pedraza. manager; second place, the Red Sox, Jim O'Donnell, manager; third place, the Padres. Russ Larsen, manager; fourth place, the Yankees, Ron Koschnitzki, manager.Senior, first place, the Athletics, Tom Balk, manager; second place, the Pirates, Tom Noble, manager; third place, the Giants, Bob Bastien, manager; fourth place (lie), the Tigers, Jack Kirby, manager, and also in fourth place, the Red Sox, Jim O’Donnell, manager.Special awards were given in each division — most valuable player, most improved player, and -the Cy Young award to the pitchers.In the Midget division, the most valuable player award went to Tom Wolff, Angels; most improvedplayer, Tom McGuire, Pirates; and the Cy Young award, Joey Douglas.
