White Golf Champion At Countrry ClubBill White won tne championship class in the annual golf tournament held at the Waterloo Country Club during the past two months. White defeated Ed Leonard Sunday, seven anci six.Shooting a red hot two over par the first round, White had Leonard down four after the first nine, and when he won numbers one, two and three the match was over.The previous Sunday White defeated Bob Voris five and four, while Leonard eliminated Howard Ludwig on the 19th hole.Don Barlow of Columbia won the first place trophy in Class A, defeating Paul Wallhaus also of Columbia. Hubert Schmitt of Waterloo won Class B. defeating Russ Lungwitz of Columbia, while Herman Reuter of St. Louis was the winner in Class C over Gene Pomeroy of Columbia.Trophies were presented at the annual golf barbecue Sunday evening.Danny Withum of Columbia won first pla !e in the boys championship class, with Bruce Steppig also of Columbia second. In Class A Jim Sondag of Waterloo took first place and Joe Woodward of New Athens was second. In Class B Lee Goeddel of Waterloo was first and Eric Gericke of Columbia was second.Mildred Austin received the first place trophy in the championship flight of the women's tournament with Gladys Zeiger second. Jean Henderson won first place and Doris Rippelmeyer second in flight A, and Ruth Stumpf was first and Helen Myers second in flight B.Ruth Kuergeleis won the low putts event.
