Talking AboutSports! virTlwith Frtd Wind jackMike Martel, a popular gentleman frogi Falher has resigned as Peace River’s zone representative for the Alberta Amateur Hockey Association. Martel played most of his senior hockey at Falher with the Pirates of the North Peace Hockey League and was a standout performer year after year.Mike was a heads up hockey player and owned one of the best shots in the business.Martel’s place will be taken by another retired hockey star, Cec Swanson of Peace River. Cecil was appointed zone representative for Peace River at a recent meeting in Calgary.Swanson coached the Peace River U.C.T. Jr. Blades of the Peace Junior League last winter and also held the president’s post of the Peace River Minor Hockey Association.Others elected to the AAHA executive were Joe Kryczka of Calgary, who replaced Stu Peppard as president. George Harvie of Blmonton was elected vice-president and Henry Wilson of Lloyminster second vice-president.Swanson with his new appointment would probably not be able to handle the coaching duties for the Peace River Junior Blades again. The Blades have already lost several of their top stars from last year's championship club.
