THE HEIGHTS HERALDCats' Coach Warren Woriible Releases 33-Game Basketball Schedule for '57-'58Peoria Cats’ Coach Warren Womble this week releasedHomeschedule for the 1957-58 season.The chart lists 16 games on the Cats’ home court, Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse, and 17 contests on the road.The season’s opening game willat the Fieidhouse De-cember 8 against the Denver Chicago Truckers.Of the 33 games, 30 will be National Industrial Basketball League games—15 at home, and 15~on the road; ------------Non^leaguegames are scheduled against St. Francis College at Peoria and Buchan Bakers at Seattle and Tacoma. The Bakers were the AAU champions in 1955.«iThis year’s home schedule is the most attractive one we’ve had in years,” Coach Womble stated. Fifteen of the 1'6 home contests are NIBL games.—t—“n-holding-our -schedule to 33 games, we will not have the opportunity to get any games under our belt before the league schedule begins,” Womble added.Tht Cats will play each of the five NIBL clubs six times during the season, three on their home court and three on their oppon--ents^ - floor. Last year the Cats 15rayed~2 0 league- games, and to non-league contests.This year’s NIBL consists of the Cats, Akron Wjg^foots, Phillip 66-ers, Wichita Vicfcers, Denver Chicago Truckers and Kansas City, a team that replaced Allen Bradley which dropped out of the league.Womble is building this year’s team around eight veterans from last season—forwards Jim Bingham and Bill Johnspn; guards Dean Kelley, Chuck Wolfe and Howie Crittenden; and centers Bert Born, John Prudhoe and Dave Plunkett—and two returning servicemen—guard A1 Kelley and forward Bill Warden—who played during the 1954-55 season.Warden is already back and A1 is scheduled to return early in December.Freshmen in the Cats’ camp are Jim Palmer, a 6’8” Dayton forward, and Lyndon Lee, 6’4” Oklahoma City University guard.
