Engel grabs leadNorth Ridgeville s Erik Engel saw an opening in the 1990 area football scoring race and he took advantage of it to take over first place.While Vermilion's Seth Balogh and Elyria's Mike Rogers were being shut out Friday night, Engel scored 14 points to surpass last week’s leader Balogh. Engel currently has 6B points while Balogh (54) and Rogers (48) remain with their point totals.Two new entries to the top ten, Clearview's Marlon Sadler and Wellington's Jim Berardue-ci. are tied for fourth with Elyria West’s Ron Gatewood. Both Sadler and Berardueci scored two touchdowns Friday to up their totals to 44 points. Gatewood remained consistent by scoring a touchdown as the Wolverine runner has tallied in all six games.A logjam remains for the seventh position as six players have scored 42 points. Sharing the final spot are Elyria's Ralph Yarber. Oberlin’s David Bell. Western Reserve's Mike McGhee and Ryan Palmer.
