VU,Benzie girls winLUDINGTON — Benzie Central won the seven-team girls’ crosscountry invitational Saturday at Mason County Central,The Huskies finished with 67 points, Kingsley was second with 108. The Does were followed by Suttons Bay at 113, Mancelona at 115, Mesick at 133, Manistee at 148 and Ludi-ngton at 150.Manistee’s Sue Niemiec was the overall winner in 20:24. Tori Ed-wardson, a freshman from Elk Rapids, was third at 20:29. Also scoring for the Elks, who had just four runners: Kammie Moore, 29th, 23:19; Kelly Quade, 38th, 24:39; and Trisha Buhr, 48th, 26:01.Mason County Central won the boys’ meet with 71 points. Benzie Central was second with 84. Elk Rapids placed fourth with 152 points, Kingsley seventh with 180 and Mesick ninth with 209.Benzie Central’s John Reed was the overall winner in 16:05.Steve Thomas of Elk Rapids was sixth at 16:30.
