Last Fridaynight the Indians trailed 12-0 before j they got into the act here, trailed 20-16 at the half, but came back in the I second half to beat Manlius 28-20. The* (Indians are now tied with Western,| Toulon, and Manlius for second place.Like many football games the breaks j had a lot to do with the final outcome.Manlius moved into the scoring column in the first period on Wirth's 50 yard run. Their second touchdown also came in the second period. It v.as set up on a Wyoming fumble on an attempted pass, the score coming on Dale's two yard run. Both conversion | attempts failed.| The Indians got on the hoard in the i second period when O'Neill passed to j Tuttle for 33 yards and a score. Thei conversion attempt failed.j The Red Devils got their final touch-j down in the second period when an-i other Wyoming fumble on an attcmpt-| ed pass was recovered by Gary oloff.ison. who carried the ball for 73 yardsi and the score. Manlius converted.I The Indians played a real big second I half and shortly got into the scoring J column when Jack Knell intercepted i a pass and went 18 yards for an Indian score. The conversion attempt failed j and the Indians trailed only 20-12.In the final period Tuttle took an 11 j yard pass from O’Neill for another Indian score and Tuttle also plowed I over for the conversion to knot the | score at 20 all.| Jack Knell set up the final touchdown with another pass interception.| The score came on a 20 yard pass from I O’Neill to Frisbv with 35 seconds left j In the game. Tuttle scored the conversion and the Indians had it. 28-20.“I’m proud of the way they came back, Coach Gary Johnson said Mon-| day. Knell had his best game along with Tuttle. O’Neill, and McGinn.“We have to continue to improve the defense. We’ll have to play with determination all the way Friday nieht if we are to beat Western. They have a lot of talent and are not the type of team we played in the past. he adde';.After losing their initial game to league leading Princevillg by a 30-0 score they came back to beat Dunlap 34-6, Walnut 30-0, and last Friday night knocked off Toulon 42-22.The game will be played in Buda and will begin at the customary starting time of 7:30 p.m.
