Among the also-rans were the present and former world champions, Xie Jun and Maya Chiburdanidze. Most historians agree chess originated in India and spread to China.Millions in both countries still play ancient forms.Only in recent years have they begun to challenge and beat the West at their own game - the so-called international or Western variant of chess. With more than 2 billion population between them, China and India’s rapidly growing chess cultures should greatly enrich international chess.Among the most impressive young players in the world are China’s Xiangzhi Bu, who became the youngest grandmaster in chess history earlier this year at age 13, and Humpy Koneru of India, who at the same age recently became the youngest British women’s champ. In the game below, Anand smoothly gains a victory over Mohamed Tissir of Morocco, who resigns in an unenviable position.Anand Tissir1. e42.
