What is there to saybut that.”That was at the door of the Dodgerdressing room today. When he hadcome out of the dugout, the last of along line of solemn, silent men. he wassmiling.Later, after the Dodgers had held a u brief, private review of what hadho wnc smilinor again. Hehappened, he was smiling again, is not a man who discourages easily.“If the curve ball that Johnny Lindell hit in the fifth inning (with the bases laeded) had been outside instead of inside we'd still be in the ball game,said Shotton.“I would have liked to win it,certainly. But we aren't going to fold up. I’ll be back here today.“Nothing happened to Ralph Branca.He just got the ball in the wrong place, that’s because he’s human. He didn t want to get It there, you know.“If they get the bases full and hitthe ball between you they get runs. I don’t know any remedy for that.”As for Branca, he had been pale as a ghost and swatlng before the game started. For four innings he had setthe mightv Yankees down in order.Then the roof fell in. Afterwards, with his color back and a faint smile on his lips, he said, no he wasn’t scared, and that all he was thinking about was to “get that ball game over with.Someone thought maybe the wind lebothered him.I didn’t even know which way thewind was blowing.
