The Haverhill team plays Bucky Dew, a coloreQ boy. Iu the game Saturday night the Natick pluyers drew the color Hue and did not try to play because Manager C. P. Driscoll insisted upon playing Lew. The New England Basketball association fined the Natick team $50 and with the tine came the ultimatum that a repetition of the case would bring another fine of double the first amount and that for a third offense the Natick team would be expelled from the lengue.Harry D. Hough was the direct opponent of Bucky Lew In the'game and it was hinted that Hough quit because ue was afraid to measure his abilities with the colored boy. Lew formerly lived in Lowell and the basketballriters there say that Bucky is all right and should be kept In the game.It Is claimed that the league ogreeoat former meetings to prohibit colored men from playing in the game. Such an agreement was said to have been made at meetings in Lowell and In Boston. The Natick players declarethat they will not try to play if Lew is put in against them. Bucky Lew is one of the best backfleld players In the country.
