Big Squad Reports Forthe Drills of Sandusky’sBasketball Team HereA squad of twenty-six candidates reported to Head Basketball Coach Wallace Glenwright at the Junior High school Monday night as the new coach took over responsibilities for the first time, of shaping a Sandusky High school basketball team into organization for the coming season.Listed among the candidates whoreported for the first drills were many athletes who took part in the football schedule just closed and it was for the benefit of those athletes that the drills were of a .light variety. Until the middle of the week and the players get the kinks worked out drills will be light as the season does not open for better than three weeks.The first night’s workouts consisted of passing, dribbling and shooting and a general conditioning of the squad for the tough grind ahead.Among those who were out for the first night were London Gant, J. P. White, jr., Milt Rutenberg, Les Gast, A1 Hess, Eddie Bryant, AugMissioni, Jack Beilstein, Willis Alexander, Ken Stauffer, Davis Chaffee, “Red” Baum, Lyle Bauman, Schillig, Dave Clayton, ‘Francis Showalter, Werner Hall, Irv Rutenberg, Paul Baker, Dave Bromm, Stradtman, Ed Earl, Hills, Foster, Ted Roth and Hoelzer.Gant, White and Milt Rutenberg, all of whom are veterans of the team of last season, are lost at mid-season because of graduation.The squad appeared to have some unusually good material but this can be best seen after their first three tough assignments with Cleveland John Hay, Cleveland Glenville and Elyria, have been passed.Practices are to be held nightly until the opening of the season.The team is to have new uniforms.
