Bowers To Receive First Yetzer AwardJames Madison University senior quarterback John Bowers will receive the first annual Bob Yetzer Memorial Scholarship Award.Bowers set several JMU passing and total offense records during his four-year career at the school and was selected for the award by the JMU coaching staff.The award will be given each year in honor of the late Bob Yetzer, an avid backer of the JMU sports program.The award consists of a permanent plaque at the school bearing each recipient’s name, a trophy for each player receiving the award and a $500 grant to the JMU general scholarship fund in the player's name.“I think it is a fitting memorial to Bob Yetzer,” Merv Holland, general manager of Bob Yetzer Ford, said of the award. “We came up with the idea late last summer, and we felt that since Bob was most interested in football that it should be a football award.”Bowers will the receive the award at the JMU fall sports banquet Dec. 0.
