-•-St. Simeon Caps A Successful Season;Beals The All-StarsClose to 4500 people attended the All-Star football game played at Proviso West Stadium last Sunday, Nov. 22, when the St. Simeon team, Bellwood, met the All-Star team of the County Line Leagues.The All-Stars won the toss and elected to receive. Although the field was muddy in spots, St. Simeon was first to score in the second quarter on a fine pass-play covering 40 yards by Byron to Fallon, then Byron scored on a short run. The All-Stars followed with a fine drive down the field for six points, tying the score 6 to 6 at the end of the I half.In the third quarter Byron, on a wonderful display of broken field running, ran 65 yards for a touchdown, making the score 12 to 6.In the fourth quarter, Fallon intercepted a pass. Then St. Simeon scored again on a 48-yard pass to Fallon by Byron, with Fallon going over for the extra point. Score is now 19 to 6.Again St. Simeon’s line shows excellent defensive playing. Car-damone, Conley, Scalatine, Harwood and Verpaele were standouts.During half time a fine performance was put on by the St. Philip's High School marching band. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from St. Simeon’s also marched on the field. A trophy was presented to Father Edw. Plawinski, Pastor of St. Simeon Church, for his school team winning the i championship of the County Line League. A trophy was also presented to Jim Byron as the outstanding player of the County Line League.
