Craven CC is ranked despite losing startersThis is the third of six areabasketball previews. New BernHigh School will be featured Wednesday.By Todd TaylorSports Reporter 1The Craven Community College basketball team opens the season ranked 15th in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll.Panther coach Si Seymour is trying to figure out why his squad is so highly ranked, since Craven lost all five starters from last season’s 23-8 team that finished in the top 24 in the NJCAAtournament.“I guess it’s probably based on our record last year and our reputation for winning consistently,” Seymour said of the ranking. “But we are going to have an exciting team this season.”Two players who saw good minutes last season return this year.
