Foreman have won its first „ four games, without defeat. The Tigers might lack height, but have compensated with a stingy man-to-man defense and a total team effort. Consol has topped Kennard, Huntington, Hearne and Kendleton in that order.Consol has only two players averaging in double figures, Philip Steen (13.3) and Scott Shafer (11.5). The Tigers’ defense has been the key, allowing less than 50 points allfour games. Other Consol scorers are: Ronnie Morgan (8.5); Larry Williams (7.0) and Pat Cartwright (6.3).Consol will next see action when they travel to Snook for aFriday night tilt.Bryan, another undefeated team at 2-0, will see action Tuesday night in Austin when they take on Austin Johnston at 7:30 p.m. Junior varsity action gets underway at 6:45.Coach Bob Perry and his charges will try to continue their mastery over schools from Austin. They opened the season by blitzing Austin-McCullum, 56-35 and then trounced Austin-Anderson, 84-61.Coach Perry has had the luxury of using 13 players in each game. Rudy Woods,seeing his first action in a varsity uniform, has done well, scoring 15 and 16 points to lead the team in scoring, as well as rebounding.In the Anderson game, three other Vikings joined Woods in double figures. Curtis Dickey had 14, while Kermit Wilson and Ronnie Tolivar had 13each.Snook, always a basketball power, tasted defeat for the first time after three victories Friday night, when they fell to Richards, 44-33. Coach Don Horn and his Blue Jays will try to rebound tonight when they travel to Richards to play the same squad.Michael Baisy had been the big gun for Snook averaging 16.8 points per game.In other varsity action tonight, the Calvert Trojans led by Brewer Henderson will try to make it three-in-a-row when they host Troy. Henderson helped Calvert destroy Reisel twice, 89-29 and 109-29. Calvert in the process became the first area team to hit’ the magical century mark.Henderson got scoring support from James Newtonwho had 14, John Taylor who had 11 and Curtis Bennett with 12 in the 109-29 win.In other action today, the Snook girl’s will be at Richards’ the Consol girls in Rockdale and the Consol junor high boys will be in Rockdale.And in the final varsity tilt of the night, Hearne travels to Mart, searching for that first victory of the year.
