Although Robstown already had the 14AAA championship tucked safely away and Bee ville had completed its sea son, the other seven teams finished out the season accord ing to the farm chart last Fri day .The Cotton Pickers wrapped up their first undefeated and untied regular season in the history of Robstown High School to finish 10-0-0. Gonzales, which had been rated a con tender from the very beginning, nailed down second place with a 34-6 win over a good Pleas anton team and Linton nipped West Oso 22-19 on a field goal after time had already run out. In the other league game, Re fugio edged Flour Bluff 14-6, Beeville, the pre-season fa vorite, finished in third place, while Cuero and Sinton, both rated away down in the pre season forecasts, tied for fourth place with .500 records in league play and Sinton finished in a two-way tie for second with Gonzales over the full season. Both posted 64 marks. The Trojans’ Calvin Hinder man not only capped the 14AAA scoring championship with 162 points in ten games, but he also is the State 3A scoring champion. Robstown's Carl Hayes scored twice in the sea son finale with Cuero, ending up second in district with 144 points and third in 3A over the State. Steve Vorster of Bridge City took runnerup honors be hind Hinderman with 156 points. Hinderman also won the state 3A rushing championship with 1634 yards on 233 carries for a 7.0 average. Again, Vorster was second (198-1560-7.9) and Hayes was third (178-1265-7.1). Statewide, Mauldin of San Marcos ranked 4th among the passers with 78 completions in 104 attempts for 1,016 yards, seven interceptions and 12 touchdowns. Burton of Linton ranked 16th with 54 of 149 for 781 yards, 1] interceptions and six touchdowns, Robstown’s Bobby Hunt is 22nd with 46 of 94 attempts for 696 yards, five interceptions and four touch downs, Sinton had two among the top 20 pass receivers, Jimmy Thames caught 29 for 376 yards Continued on Page § Final District Standings WLT Tp Op Pet.
