Robstown dominated both the offensive and defensive elevens with a total of nine Cottonpickers on the twoteams.Jimmy Ray Thames, 6-4,185 pound senior end was the only Pirate selection for the offensive unit. Two Juniors, Jerry Wilson and Bill Foley were named to the all-district defensive team. Wilson is a 5-10, 150 pound defensive halfback, while Foley is 6-2, 175 pounds and a defensive tackle.Thames ranks number eight in Class AAA pass receiving with a total of 29 grabs for 372 yards and two teedees. His best night came two weeks ago against Pleasanton when he caught seven aerials for 97 yards, including a spectular touchdown grab. Wilson and Foley each saw offensive action as well. Wilson was also rated among the State’s top Class AAA receivers. Wilson wound up tied for 16th place in the state with 19 receptions for 290 yards and four touchdowns.Wilson was credited with four interceptions this season, and numerous saves. Foley, playing his first season of varsity football, was one of the stalwarts in the Pirate defensive line.*IV4nk Garcia, Tim Kaitner; Third thlin, John Henry Tracy, Clint iy Harris, Osiel Cantu, Coach sr Burton, William Farek, Billiddell.Toward the and of the season, Foley began playing offensive tackle, in addition to defense.Robstown halfback Carl Hayes and quarterback Bobby Hunt were the only unanimous choices to the offensive eleven. The remainder of the backfield was composed by Calvin Calvin Hlnderman and Riley Odoms of Beeville and West Oso, respectively.Hinderman finished the regular season leading the State inboth rushing and scoring. Hinderman rushed 233 times for an astounding 1634 yards, a seven yard average. He also scored 22 touchdowns, kicked 19 extra points, and booted four field goals to end up with a total of 163 points. The entire Beeville team scoring total was only 198.Hayes finished third in the State in rushing with 178 carriesfor 1265 yards, a 7.1 yard average. Hayes also finished third in scoring with 144 on 24 touchdowns.Hunt was ranked 22nd in the State’s AAA passing department. Hunt tossed 94 passes, completing 46 for 696 yards.
