Negroes Play Good Ball For BrainsBy JOHNNIE STIDGEEHaving played in many athletic events throughout my life, last Saturday in California I played against a new foe. They were the colored boys who played for the U. C. L A. Bears. This is a different experience than playing with boys of your own race. These two boys were outstanding on the gridiron Saturday. Kenny Washington, the Bruin back, was a Bobby Wilson and Nagurski combined. He ran hard with the ball and was very eldsive. He passed like Sammy Baugh and played an outstanding defensive game. Strode, the other one who played end, was a good pass catcher and played very well on the defense. These two boys can easily be said to have dealt S. M. U. all the trouble that was given them against the Bears. These boys are 75 per cent of the U. C. L. A, football team.(opposing secondary with the ex-
