To The Editor:I could hear the victory bell ringing all the way down here in North Carolina (my class, the class of ‘68 gave the bell and stand to the high school as our graduation gift)! What pride I felt when I heard Humboldt High School had won the state championship! It has been a long time coming.Humboldt has played football for many, many decades, maybe close to 100 years or more, but a state championship in football had always eluded the Wildcats.I remember losing to our archrival, Webster City, for so long and then beating them in a close game in 1967, my junior year, and winning the North Central Conference. That seemed like such a big deal then, but now. a state championship! That championship should be for all who have lived in Humboldt. all who have graduated from Humboldt High School, all who have played football for the Wildcats all of those years and for all fans of Humboldt High and citizens of Humboldt. Thanks to the current coaches and players and all who have played for the blue and gold. We are bursting with pride!Tom Swearingen,Class of 1968.Cary, NCTo The Editor:Congratulations Humboldt Wildcats on your great victory. I could not be more proud of you all, since you were in my DARE class, you all have came a long way. Again way to go!This letter is for the fans, who felt it necessary to purchase adult beverages to go along w ith themto the game. Do you realize how many store clerks commented onnnmK'icnc')
