Schoolboy gridder sets state rushing recordMAHANOY CITY, Pa (AP) — Mike Tracy is the new three-year rushing leader in Pennsylvania schoolboy football.Tracy, a 5-9, 170, senior at Marian Catholic High School, broke the career mark set by Matt Suhey. There is a slim chance that Tracy could also break the four-year record of 4,835 set by Charley Banks of Meyersdale. Tracy has 4,582 yards going into today’s Eastern Conference Class B championship game at Marian Catholic’s field at Hometown in Schuylkill County. Although it appears unlikely that Tracy can gain254 yards against unbeaten Honesdale, Marian Coach Stan Dick says it’s not impossible.Mike has had this kindof game before,” saysDick. It will be much tougher for him to do in a playoff game.’’Tracy will find it much easier to join the list ofPennsylvania schoolboybacks who have rushed for 2,000 yards in one season. He has 1,995 going into Saturday's game.Suhey gained 4,557 yards at State College High from 1973 through 1975. He later played fullback at Penn State and is now with theChicago Bears.Tracy is one of three players to top 4,000 yardsthis season. Rich Clouse of Juniata Valley, a small Class A school in Huntingdon County, finished with a four-year total of 4,832, second highest in state history. Tracy will need 51 yards to move up to second place.Ed Amendola of Wilkes-Barre GAR rushed for 4,-458 yards In three seasons There are 12 players who have eclipsed the 4,000-vard mark.Sports Fons!!!DID YOU KNOW??Brought To Tou By...
