Witd-tnah, intercepting Brahma Mac' Anderson’s pass about the Tivy j 45-yard iinc, raced down the aide-1lines all the way to cross the,Northeast goal lino standing up. after charging through and out-; running several Brahma defenders who seemed to have him bottled up.The Antlers' first touchdown also came in the second quarter from a 73-yard sustained drive that started back in the Tivy 27 late tn the first, period- Wildman, Spencer, Brown, Sweetpen Rhoden, and Billy Schupp drove for four successive first downs, and Rhoden charged over the left side for the final two yards and the score.The Brahmas drew first blood, I scoring late in the first quarter: after End Harlan Heltkamp re-, covered Wildman’s fumble on the • Tivy 28. Prior to the opening kick-off Miss Phylis Klein was presented as the Tivy football queen.First QuarterThe Antlers got off to a slow start, fumbling five times In the first quarter. However, the Tivyteam recovered three of their own fumbles, and after this quarter held onto the ball for the rest of the game.Bill Archer took tho opening kick-off on the Tivy 26 and returned to the 33-yard line, but tho Antlers were unable to gain the yardage for a first down and Wild-mnn punted to the Northeast 27* yard line where Hcitknmp fumbled and Swootpea Rhoden recovered for the Antlers. Two plays later, the Brahmas recovered Billy Schupp’s fumble to regain possession on their own 30. It was Heit-fcamp who covered the ball.The Brahmas drove for throe consecutive first downs with Milton Haines, Barry, and Mac Anderson making substantial gains and working the ball down to the Antler 24 where Barry fumbled, and Don Shelton recovered for Tivy. The Antlers’ ownership of tho ball was short-lived, for three plays later Wildmnn fumbled, and Hcitkamp recovered for tho Brahmas on Tivy’s 28-1 yard line. Four plays later Barry went over for the lone Brahma score. Heitknmp's kick was no good, and the Brahmas’ scoring ended for the evening.The Antlers seemed to come to life after the Northeast touchdown, and after a 15-yard holding penalty Wildman. Billy Schupp made the yardAge for a first at midffcld and Brown tore off eight yards around right end behind a good block by Alton Rhoden. A holding penalty set the Antlers back 15 yards, but Rhoden and Schupp recovered the territory with a pass play that sent Schupp to the Brahma 20 before he was fielded by Chuck Knutson. Rhoden, Wildman and Brown gained another first down through the line, and after an unsuccessful pass try, Wildman drove to tho two-yard line In two plays, with Rhoden going over on a keeper for the score. Wildman’s kick was not good, and the score remained tied, 6 and 6.Taking the kick-off, the Brahmas could not gain, with DeLoach, Brown, Perlowski and McDaniel stopping their plays, and on third down, Bill Archer broke through to trip Don Barry for a nine-yard loss. Barry fell on the ball and was hurt on tho play. Arnold English, Northeast's barefoot punter, kicked out to the Tivy 40, where the Brahmas’ Hcitkamp killed the ball.* • tThe Antlers got another drive well under way, as Wildman, Brown, Schupp and Rhoden tore off two more first downs that placed the ball on the Northeast 34, but the campaign ended when j Chuck Knutson intercepted Rho-i den’s pass on the Brahma 30. j The Brahmas could not gain on ) the ground, but a pass from Mac I Anderson to Heitkamp was good I to the Brahma 44 where DeLoach downed the carrier. Johnson added 13 more yards on a center drive, but the Rangers got the ball on downs on their own 48-yard line.Ranger penetrated down to the Mountaineer 18-yard line, but the Cadets’ defense, spearheaded by Tommy Robb and Tommy Thorn*one first down, but the Antlers held and the ball went over on Tivy’s 30, The Antlers could not gain, however, and three plays later Wildman booted out to the Brahma 30. It was the same story for tho Brahmas with Ronnie Girard sneaking through the line to smear Knutson for a loss, and English punted out to the Tivy 27. Here the Antlers were stopped cold and Chalk attempted to kick on fourth down, but the pass from center was high and Chalk had to attempt a run. The ball went over on downs on the Antler 32.Three play3 later Schupp intercepted Knutson’s pass on the Antler two-yard line, and in the closing half-minute Rhoden ran out tho clock with two keeper plays. The game ended with the Antlers sitting on the ball on their own one-yard line.The two bands and pep squads staged colorful performances athalf-time.
