William Chadeayne, of Buffalo, N. Y., has just completed the most harzanlous journey ever made across the continent. The young man made the run in 4S days and hours frrom New York to San Francisco. It was the first rime that a motorcyclist evevr attempted such a trip, and all records were broken for distance andendurance.Chadeayne left the Eastern metropolis on the morning of September 13, and until his arrival in San Francisco, spent almost all of the time on his wheel. Me had very little sleep, and that little was taken along the roadside.The venturesome motorist experienced every kind of hardship on the way. For mi'es he pushed through a drivtng storm until he became completely snowbound. When the roads became passable again, he made up for lost time byriding day and night. After coasting down a hill he ran into an immense boulder and smashed his wheel. He was then obliged to walk nine miles to the nearest | town. Just outside of Wyoming he met a number of cowboys who in a very ugly mood. Chadeaym ! was unarmed and had an exciting 11 ime.The route chosen by him was from Buffalo to Cleveland, through Chicago, Davenport, Des Moines, Omoha, Cheyenne, Ogden and Stockton, to this city. The best road.-; were found in the Middle West and the hardest were in Ne vada. His most trying ride was over the desert, where miles ofrailroad ties were bumped by him.On his arrival in San Francisco, Chadeayne was in good health, but worn out for want of sleep. He put un at a Manunani bath establishment, where he slept for thirty hours.The daring young fellow is undaunted by his hard experience, and ij determined to see the world on hi', motor. His next trip will be taken down into the heart ofJ Mexico.
