U».—At the bout between Torn Sharkey and Joe Goddanl in the Knickerbocker club last night tf,000 people were present. Sharkey was a 10 to 7 favorite. The fight, whi^h was scheduled for twenty rounds, terminated in the sixth, when Sharkey, after landing a stiff right on Goddards jaw, knocked him to the floor, falling heavily upon him. Goddard s head struck th«‘ canvas with a smash, which dazed him. Ho arose at the end of three seconds, and staggered to the ropes. Referee McArthur meanwhile holding Sharkey kick. McArthur awarded the fit'ht to ♦Sharkey. The decision was just, lafc the popular impression was that Goddard was hurt more by his collision with the floor than from Sharkey’s blows, which at all timas were wild and miserably timed.
