They opened their gridiron campaign in fine style by holding the great Olympia High eleven of Columbia, S. C., to a one point victory, and followed up be defeating the good Newton-Conover team by 7-0.These two games, however, cost them the services of tailback .Jack Goode and fullback Bill Stanley, who were sidelined with injuries. With their big one-two punch out of action the Rippers sank into a doldrum and dropped games to Lenoir, Western Carolina “B” and Charlotte Tech.
