C., THURSDAY,NOVEMBER 18, 1948VOL. 53—No 18Gala Christmas Celebration Planned By Marion MerchantsMonday, November 29 The jolly, old elf accepted the invitation with pleasure when the Marion Merchants Association phoned him about the elaborate plans underway to make this holiday sea»on the merriest celebration ever held in Marion.Beginning at 4:30 p. m., Monday afternoon, there will be a formal Christmas opening of Marion stores complete with a parade of floats, local horsemen, the Marion High School band and a number of other attractions. Merchants will compete for the most attractive window displays and the prettiest floats. Winner of the float contest will be awarded $25 and the window display contest prize will be $10.Committees and chairmen to assist in preparing the celebration were named at a meeting of the association Tuesday afternoon as follows:S.
