CAN you remember when the old roller skating- rink was located at the corner oi King and Doty streets, and later on, it was converted Into a beer-garden and arena lor boxing and wrestling matches?It was here that Evan Lewis,Ridgeway, made his first appearance as a wrestler,, having been developed . and back, by two Madison men — Thomas Morgan and James Fisher, Lewis afterward became world's champion and made a lot of money for his two promoters, The last appearance of Lewis in Madison in a wrestling capacity was when heacted as door keeper at the university gymnasium wherein was being held a LaFollette convention and a crowd of “delegates at large’ ’opposed to Gov. LaFollette politically, attempted to storm the meeting. Lewis flopped them all as they tried to crash the entrance, and finally they. withdrew with soresnots and twisted anatomies.
