Concord RacesSlated SundayCONCORD. — The final known scheduled stock car race of the year for North Carolina will be held Sunday afternoon at the Concord Speedway by members ol the Carolina Racing team, -cording to an announcen nt by Promoter J. D. (Termite) Moose. The added attraction at this race will be the appearance of some of the top stock car drivers of this section of the nation, the promoter added.Time trials are slated to be helo Saturday afternoon as well as Sunday in order to take care of the large entry list. Sunday’s trials will get underway at 1 o’clock, while the heat races are slated tobegin at 2:30.Charlie Freemat of Kannapolis and David Euart of Salisbury are currently pacing the field in po it standings, but the winner of the racing trophy will not be decided until after this race. Freeman has a slight lead over Euart at the present time but must finish ahead ol th- Salisbury lad to cop the trophy.The members of the Carolina Racing team have appeared at tracks all over the state and each event has produced many thrills for the spectators. Their season’s record for spills lists 10 cars crashing through the fence, eight going through the guard rail and 12 turning over, plus a high totalof pileups.The drivers have reported thatthe Concord Speedway track is one of the trickiest in this section and are now busily making last minute adjustments on their cars to be ready for Sunday's feature event. All members of the racing team will be present for the race andseveral other top speedsters including Bill Widenhousc of Midland have indicated that they would be present to participate in the races.Other drivers entered are Jim Brawley, Buddy Bowman, Gene Irvin. Red Irvin, Dink. Jack and Bob Widenhouse, Ed Hartsell Moi-fitt Caldwell, Tence Caldwell, Ken Kluttz, Lloyd Dennis, Bugs Raper, Jim Cook, Marshall Weatherly Norman McCall and Van McCall.
