OLD INDIANA’S CREAM AND CRIMSONCream and Crimson are the University of Indiana's colors, but how they canie to be such is not generally known. The following story of their adoption is told by an alumnus of the University who was a member of the class that chose them: “When I was a Senior in1888,’’ said he, “our class conceived the * ♦idea of publishing a volume which would reflect life and affairs at the University. No previous class had attempt-* » •ed anything of this nature, but that didnot daunt us in the least. After quite. . . . . . v~ — - % - - -an amount of discussion, we decided-toissue a Commencement number of TheStudent, which was then published monthly and illustrate it with pictures of the various fraternities and college organizations. The next question that confronted us was the coirs to be used1-in decorating the binding of the volume.Before that time there had been no of-ficial University colors so the class of ’88, thirty-nine in number, met to decide what Indiana’s future colors should be.
