Last year, he was second team NAIA District 22 and he’s continued where he left off by being named NAIA District 22 player of the week earlier in the season and has twice been named Tiffin’s defensive player of the week.“He is one of the team leaders and is a hard-working, good football player,” said Wolfe.“He is a real student of the game and puts in a lot of time studying films of the opponents. He also puts in a lot of time lifting and running and it’s paid off.“He’s one of those rare play-est pulling guards I’ve ever been around and he’s a great kid to coach.“Last year, he was first team all-NAIA District 22 punter and is averaging around 33 yards a kick for us this season.”Trbovich, who goes 6-3, 260 pounds, didn’t play high school football and concentrated on basketball at Vermilion.“Coming from a basketball family, we recognized his athletic ability and he’s worked his way into the starting lineup at guard. He’s worked hard to become a good player.“He needs to get on a good lifting program and can become a good college lineman. He runs well and does a good job trapping. He just has all the tools to be a good one before he leaves our program.”The Dragons, 1-8-1 in Wolfe’s first year, got off to an 0-3 start this season. But, they bounced back with four straight wins before falling to Findlay and Westminster (Pa.). Last week, they were idle.“In our opener, we had a 22-7 lead over SUNY-Brockport (N.Y.) only to lose, 23-22. We led Union College (Ky.) after three quarters in the second game only to lose and had a 21-13 lead over West Liberty State at half time only to lose, 38-21.“The fourth week, we were in better shape and held off Wilmington. 42-28.
