Many wore pink T-shirts with black letters that said, “See Annie Run.”And run she did.Beecham became a two-time all-Ohioan and set the Granville meet record for the state course last Saturday. She finished eighth in 19 minutes, 10 seconds in Division IIBeechaiAfter she crossed the finish line, Beecham’s teammates congratulated her. Coach Bob Hollen, who sported oneof the bright-shirtspinkthat Beecham’s mother haddesigned, hugged his exhausted runner.All was well at that point. But Beecham’s day didn’t start smoothlv. Hollen. nor-mallv the first person to the school, didn’t show up asearlv as he usuallv does. Thenand became the first Blue Ace Beecham waited in traffic forgirl to stand on the podium.The previous high finish for a GHS girl in the state meet was 21st by Susan Stukus during the late 1980s.“I’m so happy with how it went,” Beecham said. “I don’t think it could have went any better.
