RECORDS are made to bebroken and that is exactly what has happened to the high scratch series which was held by Herb Hunt.Herb’s 781 scratch serieswhich he bowled in 1985 hasbeen the record until threeweeks ago when Danny Plummer bowled three games of 278-236-268 for a 782 series and a new Lawton-Fort Sill record.Danny set the record while bowling in the Turtle Clubleague at Holiday Bowl.High game honors for the week go to Norm Kellner for his big 278 game in the All-Star Classic league. Highseries honors went to GeorgeBerry for his 721 series at Holiday Bowl.There was much excitementalso on the distaff side. Ordinarily a 244 game doesn’t rate big headlines, but when Liela Creel rolled that score in the Nationalette league at Thunderbird Lanes, little did she know that she would continue for a 820 series — herfirst 600 series.She is a 153-average bowler and her other two games were 187 and 189.Elsie Martin was the onlyone to top Liela s good bowling. Elsie rolled games of 191-201-245 for a 637 series to take both high game and high series honors Ironically, Elsie bowled her good game and series in the same league asLiela.THE OTHER ‘firsts’ reported this week are the 213 game bowled by Karen Anderson in the Nationalette league — her first 200 game. A 133-averagebowler. Betty Johnson rolled a206 game — her first 200 — in the Pepsi league at Thunderbird LanesMark Hill, a member of the Junior-Senior league at Thunderbird Lanes, came vervclose to another 700 series Hefound the range for games of 235*221*235 for a 691 series -high for the AJBC bowlers this week.The Oklahoma State Junior Bowling Association’s annual Adult-Child tournament kicked off Saturday with the first squad at 12 noon. This tournament is open to all AJBC bowlers in Oklahoma The tournament is divided into two classes — bantam and junior-senior, with boysand girls divisions in each. Squad times for today are 12 noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to watch the competition at Holiday Bowl.Also at Holiday Bowl is theBudweiser Match GameDoubles, which began Sept. 28and continues through Dec. 1. To qualify, you bowl fourgames across eight lanes, andyou can bowl anytime lanes are available. The top eight qualifying teams as of midnight Dec 1 will advance tothe finals. The finals will bedouble-elunination, three-game matches.Bowl to qualify as often as you wish; once you make thetop eight you cannot changepartners. Use 1873*74 book averages.
