WHITESBORO COACH IN MELEE WITH DENISON COACH OFFICIATINGTempers flared and fists flew at I the Bearcat* Denison B game last Thursday night at Munson Stadium in Denison. Coach Bo Reid, who became' enraged after one of the three Denison coaches who were officiating, called a touchdown for the Denison squad, resorted to fistcuffs and won a decision over the referee by a knockdown.The play, which so aroused the tempers of the Whitesboro Coach and fans alike, took place in the•fading seconds of the game inside* the one yard with Whitesboro leading 13*6.Denison ran a play through the center of the line with less than sixteen rc mds remaining and the entire m K* f the Bearcat line rose up * neet the Denison backand hur i n aa:k. However, thereferee, i r man Wright, threw up both hand signalling a touchdown. Reid race! on the field and demanded “Do you call that a touchdown?”, to which he replied, “I do”.The Bearcat coach ierked off the referee's glasses with his left hand and followed through with a series of left and rights in which the official was felled. Fans from the bleachers streamed on the field and two or three other minor outbreaks occurred before order \v is restored.The names of the officials were not known to Reid until the day of the • me.
