The soldiers outweighed Palatine by an average of 20 pounds to the man, but when our team got dowu to work the soldiers thought they had met a cyclone; Palatine started around the ends and then would buck the line for live and ten vard gains. The soldiers line at right guard and tackle was weak and Palatine used the point for big crains: first the backs, then the line men would be sent through this hole Palatine carried the bail to within 20 vards of the First Regiment’s goal, where it was lost on downs. Roby's men failed to make live yards on the second four downs and Palatine took the ball for a touchdown through the 11 le. B. L. Smith kicked goal. The balance pf the game was the hardest fought contest ever seen on the field, the soldiers determined to score and Palatine working desperately tomai ntain their lead. Palatine kept the upper hand, with their goal safe at all times. /Williams for Palatine played an excellent offensive and defensive game. Roby played the First Regiment's game so far as offensive work was concerned.
