Poor Betty!Snoopy says:Time to close—no more scoops!ANNUAL FOOTBALL BANQUET HELDThe annual Granville High School football banquet was held in the schoolcafeteria at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5. The banquet, which was served by the mothers of the members of the squad was the occasion for the presentation of letters. Representatives of the faculty and board of education were after dinner speakers. Mr. James McIntyre was Master of Ceremonies. ■ -4 4kThe following boys received letters: Carl Faller, Captain; Neal Faller; John Hill; Donald Griffith; Bob Keller; Carl Brown; Charles Hoover; Eddie Rupp; Ralph Dispennette; Charles t Conrad; Chester Klein; Donald Esch-man; Mark Wilson; Phillip Morrison; James Spencer; Bill Tanner; David Graham; James Arter, and Vastine Hammond, manager.The members of the 1940 squad elected Eddie Rupp, a Junior classman, to captain the team during the 1941 season. .frrf - tThirteen seniors wound up their high school football careers last Thursday when Granville lost to Fredrick-town 13-7 in a thrilling battle on the home field. ’Fredricktown scored first about midway in the first quarter when Cline recovered a fumble on the Aces 10. yard line. Gregg, after three con-1 secutive plunges, pushed the ball; across the double stripe. A pass Jaggers to Varner, made good the extra point. The Freddies scored again in the second canto starting from their own 30 and driving the ball.up the field for 6 more points. The try for extra point, a pass, failed.The Aces came back in the third period to make their only score. Rupp tan a punt to the 50 where Dispennette added five and C. Faller plungetl for ten more on the next two plays. A pass Rupp to Keller, put the ball on the 20 where C. Faller drove to the 12: Another aerial, Rupp to Brown, advanced lt;he ball to the 2 yard line, where C. Faller picked Up the score. The try for the extra point was made good by C. Faller’s line plunge.* The teams seemed evenly matched and both teams put up.a great fight. This game was the last for the Dorris-men and winds up a satisfactory season. Thirteen seniors saw action in their last contest on the high school gridiron. They played fine ball all season and their’loss will be felt by next year’s squad.
