Qirls, Hockey Take OverJackson Park on SaturdayClad in shorts and shin-pads,women representing 14 associa-tions will take over Jackson park this week-end for the annual Midwest Field Hockey tournament. The Chicago Field Hockey association will be hostess to this year's tourney and headquarters have been established in the Winder-mere East hotel.Play will get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday when North Shore team No. 1 meets Chicago team No. 1, and will be completed Sunday morning with final games scheduled to get under way at 11 o'clock. The two top teams in the tourney will go to the National tournament in Williamsburg, Va.. on November 23.Action.Patterned after the game of ice hockey, field hockey, while slower, has retained much of the action and zest of the parent game. It is indulged in mainly by the feminine element but roughness forbids the use of the word ‘'feminine'’ in describing the action.Two teams representing Chicago, North Shore and St. Louis have entered, and Milwaukee, Madison, Wetomochek, Evanston.Iowa and West Suburban have made single entries.The two Chicago teams which will compete in the tourney have been picked from the four clubs in the, Chicago association. According to Vera Trayford, who is in charge of publicity for the event, Ray Smiley, chairman ol' the Chicago selection committeehas already picked the teamswhich will represent this city.Competitors.Among those named to compete on team No. 1 are Lottie Zaleski, Esther La Rowe. Ethel Murphy. Ted Weisner, Marie Johnston. Madeline Burbanck, Mary Farlev, Ray Fraser, Sarah Kyte, Isabel Smith, Vera Trayford. Helen Bina. Ray Smiley. Jean Morrison and Peggy Gardner.Players on team No. 2 include Mary Felts, Nell Eastburn. Eleanor Paul. Marie Kuglin. Phoebe Ford, Mary Monson. Marion Howell. Margaret Withers. Alice Smith, Helen Starrett and Marge Spaulding.
