The Rough-riders had to come from behind to nip the Hilltoppers 13-12 for the city and inter-county championships.13-12 Thriller!Roosevelt Nips Keith For l-C ChampionshipBy JIM LANERoosevelt again wears the cham pionship crown of the Inter-County Junior High School Football League.The Rough Riders notched I-C honors, as well as the mythical city championship, by rallying to nip cross-town rival Keith, 13-12, in a cliff-hanger at the Keith Athletic Field yesterday afternoon.Both schools entered the game with 7-0-0 records and one of the largest crowds ever to witness a grid contest at Keith braved the chilly weather to see the two junior high powers lock horns.Besides being unbeaten, Roose velt also went into the game un scored upon. That mark didn’t hold up for the Rough Riders because Keith tallied late in the second quarter and then again in the third to take* a 12-6 lead.At that point, it looked like theLou Glashauser directs Roosevelt and Bob Crago leads Keith—and it was quite evident that the new chiefs had their boys well prepared for the championship contest.Defense took the spotlight on both sides.
