Major Taylor Going; Against Record*. jPhiladelphia, Nov. 5. Major Taylor. | the colored wheelman, at Wood side Park vesterday* made two attempts , to break Kdourad 'l aylore's record for one mile and one kilometer. Taylore's record for the latter is 5^ •»-.*» seconds, and Major cut it down to 37 3-5 seconds in a trial in which he continually called for more pace. The colored rider covered the mile in 1:341-5, the Frenchman's record for this distance being' 1:32 2-5. Major Taylor will make efforts to lower records on each day ot next week.
